Dr Hercules Konstantopoulos

Head of Data Science

After a career as a researcher in astrophysics that spanned four continents over ten years, Hercules became drawn to addressing a greater variety of data-related problems. As a data scientist, he has spent the past decade on sustainability, enterprise software and renewable energy. His work focuses on converting information into strategy and on crafting useful tools, applications and visuals.

At the Hugh Green Technology Centre, Hercules leads a team of data scientists, engineers, and computational biologists. The Data Science Core builds the tools our researchers need to push the boundaries of immunology. This tooling also includes high-performance computing, which makes sure we have the right hardware to smoothly operate our cutting-edge technology platforms and to stay on the forefront of computational science. Hercules also acts as the Institute’s conduit to the Wellington and wider New Zealand tech community.
