Unwanted immune responses that cause allergies and autoimmune disorders are on the rise in Aotearoa. Reduced exposure to bacteria and other disease-causing pathogens in early life through increased hygiene and urbanisation may be to blame.
At the March 2023 Allergy New Zealand Primary Care Update, Dr Kerry Hilligan from the Ronchese Laboratory shares her latest research into this phenomena and how we can ultimately improve long-term population health through education of the innate immune system.
