Dr Jordan Minnell

Dr Minnell completed his PhD at Imperial College London in the UK studying virus : host interactions in the context of Human T Cell Lymphotropic Virus 1 infection from a structural and molecular perspective. His focus is now on the mRNA vaccine development programme, with a focus on developing novel vaccines able to induce tissue-resident memory T cell (TRM) populations in the liver.

Dr Minnell is postdoctoral research fellow in the Cancer Immunotherapy programme led by Professor Ian Hermans.

Research interests

"My work is centred around creating mRNA vaccines that drive TRM formation in the liver. The presence of TRM T cell populations in the tissue where pathogens replicate and infect is associated with superior immune protection from disease, and we are currently aiming to apply these principles to liver-stage pathogens such as Malaria and Hepatitis B virus."
