How is our immune system regulated?

Our immune system is self-regulated to ensure inflammatory immune cells don’t damage our own cells.

These cells are activated for example at the end of an infection when inflammation is no longer needed, or to inactivate “faulty” cells to avoid an inappropriate immune response against our own cells. Our immune system is balanced in such a way that it is able to remove dangerous pathogens and avoiding chronic inflammation and immune-mediated tissue damage.
