Named the 2013 "Breakthrough of the Year," cancer immunotherapy is a unique and emerging approach to cancer treatment. Rather than simply targeting the tumours, cancer immunotherapy targets the immune system and directs the body's own immune defences to seek out and destroy tumour cells wherever they appear.
