Dr Andrew Wilson

Dr Andrew Wilson received his PhD in Human Genomics from the University of Otago under the supervision of Dr Michelle Thunders, Dr Robert Weinkove and Dr Nathaniel Dasyam. His thesis explored various genomic approaches for the improved clinical management of patients with lymphoid cancers.

Dr Wilson is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Weinkove laboratory.

“Genomics is a rapidly evolving field, and is becoming increasingly important in various scientific disciplines including immunology. I am particularly interested in applying genomic techniques, that are commonly used in a clinical diagnostic setting, to translational cancer therapy research including CAR T-cell therapy here at the Malaghan Institute. My research focuses on reinforcing the safety profile of our CAR T-cell therapies through applied genomic approaches. Overall, we aim to integrate more genomic methods to monitor our CAR T-cells in the hope of better understanding how they work at the DNA level.”
