For New Zealand to remain at the forefront of scientific research we require a continuous flow of new, well-trained scientists. The Malaghan Institute has an international reputation as a cutting-edge biomedical research and training facility, housing New Zealand's brightest and most creative postgraduate students.
We have a long-standing affiliation with New Zealand Universities and are held in high regard as one of the leading organisations for students to complete a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology.
Students who undertake postgraduate research at the Malaghan Institute are sought after around the world because of the intensive training they receive in current cutting-edge technologies and ideas. At present we have Malaghan PhD graduates working at leading international research Institute's throughout Australia, Europe and the USA, including the Trudeau Institute, New York; National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA; EPFL, Switzerland; and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne, Australia.
While completing their PhD, Malaghan students are also encouraged to attend international conferences and to visit collaborators laboratories overseas to ensure they keep abreast of the latest developments in their particular field of research.
