The Malaghan Institute has an international reputation as a leading biomedical research and training facility, housing New Zealand's brightest and most creative postgraduate students.
Postgraduate students who study with us are sought after internationally, because of the intensive training they receive.
Previous Malaghan PhD graduates have gone on to work at leading research institutes in Australia, Europe and the USA. These include the Trudeau Institute in New York, National Institutes of Health in the USA, EPFL in Switzerland and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia.
For New Zealand to remain at the forefront of scientific research we require a continuous flow of new, well-trained scientists. We have a long-standing affiliation with New Zealand universities and are held in high regard as one of the leading organisations for students to complete a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology.
While completing a PhD, students are encouraged to attend international conferences and visit collaborators laboratories overseas to keep abreast of the latest developments in their research field.
