Volunteering

The Malaghan Institute relies on the generosity of volunteers to support its research programmes and uphold its mission to be a responsible charity. There are two areas where you can volunteer to help us achieve these goals.

Lollipop Appeal Volunteer

The Annual Lollipop Appeal is held every February and is our largest fundraising event of the year. Our collectors throughout the country hand out lollipops and stickers in exchange for donations. Its success, however, is directly related to the number of volunteers we have out on the streets. Currently the appeal is held in Wellington, Hutt Valley, Kapiti Coast and New Plymouth. We are hoping to expand the appeal throughout the North Island. However the Lollipop Appeal cannot continue without support.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! Can you volunteer some time to help collect? One hour of your time makes a world of difference to the funding of our research programmes. Together we can ‘lick’ cancer, asthma, arthritis, MS and infectious disease!

Administration Volunteer

To ensure that donations and funds raised go directly to benefiting research in the greatest capacity, the Malaghan Institute is proud to maintain low administration costs and staffing. However this means sometimes we need a little help!

Three times a year the fundraising team mail out over 5000 newsletters to our supporters. This takes a group of volunteers a full day of good old envelope stuffing! If you think you may be able to help with this or other volunteer administration duties as they arise please register your interest as an Administration Volunteer.
