Our facility
The past 10 years have seen the medical research activities of the Malaghan Institute grow enormously, and with that growth has come new responsibilities and challenges.
Following 25 years at the Wellington School of Medicine, during which time the Institute grew from a staff of 10 to a staff of 50, the Malaghan Institute relocated to a purpose-built facility at Victoria University's Kelburn campus in 2004. The new facility has allowed expansion of our research and the construction of specialised, state-of-the-art laboratories including a GMP Vaccine Production Laboratory and a Flow Cytometry Suite.
The new facility can also now accommodate more scientists and PhD students, enabling us to focus on developing New Zealand scientists as well as focusing on creating real health benefits.
